AN EVENING LED BY YOU
Join us on Thursday, March 14th at 6pm at Trinity Centre for an evening of communal conversation and activities to bring us together and make navigating the Arts a little less isolating.
Audiences are encouraged to attend with an open mind and willingness to participate in unconventional discussions and activities increase confidence in our collective understanding of the wider Arts sector and build relationships with peers.
Why is it led by you?
By prioritising the audience's role, we address artists' most pressing concerns, fostering innovation and fresh perspectives from emerging artists. Allowing the audience to shape discussions increases their commitment to implementing ideas, granting a sense of ownership, and empowering marginalised voices. This inclusive approach embraces diverse backgrounds, recognising the intersectionality of issues faced by Global Majority artists. Collaborative solutions to interpersonal and professional challenges in the arts are encouraged, promoting knowledge-sharing and mutual support.
What can you expect?
An interactive format of fishbowl discussions whereby groups of people sit in concentric circles engaging in collective dialogue. We will also host a series of grounding excercises to set intentions, stimulate curiousity, and encourage an openness to connect with peers.
About the programme
Commun People is a programme that advocates for emerging Global Majority voices to participate in the Arts while strengthening their skills and widening their employment opportunities. By encouraging critical discourse, peer mentoring, practical and creative development, the programme will support Global Majority voices to develop their practice and overcome often exclusionary barriers to initiating or sustaining a career in the Arts.
About the organisation
COMMUN is a combined arts organisation with a focus on community building with emerging and mid-career Global Majority voices. Through development programmes and activities, educational tools and creative media, COMMUN creates opportunities for Global Majority voices to collaborate and progress their practices while creating a greater understanding for othered people in our society.
